OUR STORY
HISTORY
The Maleehah Laylaa Centre for Special Needs, initially known as Lollypop Land, was established in February 2011 by Aadila Moolla, a devoted mother of two special needs children. Faced with the challenge of finding suitable educational facilities for her children within Lenasia, Aadila recognized the need for a specialized center closer to home. Her determination to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment led to the inception of the school. She envisioned a place where every child, regardless of their abilities, would receive not only special needs support, but also love and understanding. Aadila's heartfelt quote, "Each child in my care is not just a special needs child, but a SPECIAL CHILD," epitomizes her unwavering commitment to these students. Aadila's vision extended beyond her own children, as she sought to establish an accredited learning environment that could cater to the marginalized learners in the community.
With the support of likeminded parents who shared similar needs for their children, Aadila's vision materialized into the Maleehah Laylaa Centre for Special Needs. This institution was conceived to provide a comprehensive education that included proper care, simulating training, and a strong foundation of morals and values, tailored specifically for learners with low functioning needs.Despite encountering numerous challenges and facing discrimination from other schools, Aadila remained resolute in her mission for the betterment of these learners.
She identified a pressing issue: many parents, due to financial constraints, were unable to afford the high fees associated with private special needs schools. As a result, their children remained at home, lacking the specialized care and therapies necessary for their optimal development. Aadila Moolla's unyielding determination, inspired by her own experiences and fueled by her desire to create a better future for special needs children, laid the cornerstone for the Maleehah Laylaa Centre for Special Needs. Through her vision and unwavering commitment, Aadila has provided a beacon of hope and opportunity for children in the community who require specialized care and support.
The Maleehah Laylaa Centre for Special Needs School has entered a vibrant phase of growth and empowerment. In addition to its core educational offerings, the school has introduced engaging gardening activities, providing students with hands-on experiences that promote sensory stimulation, fine motor skills, and a connection to nature. This initiative not only enhances their learning but also fosters a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.
Furthermore, the school is actively engaged in a fundraising campaign aimed at constructing a new and purpose-built facility.
This exciting venture signifies the school's commitment to providing an even more conducive learning environment for its students. The efforts to raise funds exemplify a strong vision for the future and a dedication to continuous improvement, ensuring that the Maleehah Laylaa Centre for Special Needs School remains at the forefront of specialized education.
It's noteworthy that the school has garnered significant recognition, having received a total of 9 awards from the Department of Education. These accolades are a testament to the school's exceptional dedication and contributions to the field of special needs education.
This period marks a dynamic and promising chapter in the school's journey, as it continues to evolve and elevate the educational experience for all its students.
